NATOMA -- In the season of goodwill, American Legion Auxiliary members joined in celebrating Christmas with a supper and Christmas card signing for elderly veterans, soldiers and sailors stationed around the world.

A collection of assorted items were boxed to be sent to 500 Kansas troops serving in harm's way in the Middle East.

With an alert from the ALA Department of Kansas, 220 Auxiliary units had the opportunity to participate. The annual Christmas store at Fort Dodge Soldiers Home was given a boost through the unit's donation of $500.

Throughout the year, the auxiliary lifts the spirits of veterans, soldiers and the community by living out their motto, "Serving others, not self."

The unit's final celebration for the year drew members together for fellowship, prayer and project projections for 2015.

January will find them working with Natoma USD 399 for Kansas Day activities, including the underwriting for a Kansas museum historical trunk titled "Cowboys and Cattle Drives."
