HAYSVILLE -- The Hays Larks won their last two games of their three-game series this weekend at the Haysville Heat.

The Larks won Saturday 7-2 and Sunday 6-0.

The Larks moved to 20-10 and 14-10 in the Jayhawk League, while the Heat dropped to 11-21 and 7-18 in the league.

In Sunday's 6-0 win, Nick Goza (1-0) threw five shutout innings, allowing four hits and three walks. It was his first start since returning to the squad after last season.

Relievers carried the game after that. Four relievers pitched an inning each, allowing just one hit and a walk in those four innings.

The Larks finished 11 of 36 at the plate, and four Larks finished with two hits.

Center fielder Aaron Cornell was 2 of 4 with an RBI, right fielder Austin Darby was 2 of 5 with a double and run scored, first baseman Ryan Busboom was 2 of 5 with two RBIs, and left fielder Jon Ryan was 2 of 5 with a run scored.

In Saturday's 7-2 win, reliever Blake Johnston picked up the win, taking over for Jake McDavid in the middle of the fifth inning.

McDavid had some struggles early, allowing two runs, six hits and two walks in 41βΡ3 innings. Johnston (2-0) pitched 22βΡ3 innings and allowed just one hit while striking out two.

Darby and Busboom led the Larks offensively. Darby finished 3 of 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, and Busboom was 3 of 4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
