WaKEENEY -- A 30-year-old WaKeeney man remained in the Trego County Jail on Saturday in lieu of $500,000 bond following his arrest in connection with a not-yet-filed murder charge involving an unborn child.

Scott R. Bollig was arrested Thursday by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the WaKeeney Police Department on the murder charge as well as a domestic battery charge.

Bollig made an appearance in Trego County District Court on a probable cause hearing, at which time the bond was set.

Formal charges have not yet been filed in the case, and the investigation remains ongoing, according to a two-paragraph statement issued Friday by the Kansas Attorney General's office.

The statement didn't suggest who the victim might be, but the inmate roster at the Trego County Sheriff's office provided a glimpse.

On the roster, Bollig is listed as being held on charges of a crime involving an unborn child. He's also being held on a pending domestic battery charge.

The attorney general's office will be handling the prosecution of the case at the request of Trego County Attorney Tony Potter.
