The new bike trail will be one of the items on the agenda for the Hays City Commission meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Bids have been received for the 22 miles of trail. Assistant City Manager Paul Briseno expects work to begin in March and be completed in 55 days.

The city received a grant for the $1 million project. The city will pay $393,000 of the project.

Two-and-a-half miles of the trail will be on the levies, which will have a 10-foot wide concrete path.

Other items for review by the commission include an update on the Water Conservation Project. On Nov. 29 at the Fort Hays State University basketball game, there will be events and activities.

The city will also look at bids for the recycling truck. The low bid was $172,000.

The commission will review a resolution to establish a benefit district for S&W Alley Pavement. They will also review an engineering services agreement for S&W, the FHWA Urban Area Boundary and Functional Classification, and the 2015 Street Maintenance Program.
