The authors of a newly published book on fish will conduct a book signing Saturday at Sternberg Museum of Natural History.
Mark Eberle and Joe Tomelleri will sign their new book, "Fishes of the Central United States," from 1 to 3 p.m.
First published in 1990, the second edition was published in September, according to Eberle.
The first edition included 163 of Tomelleri's illustrations, while the second includes more, he said.
Eberle and Tomelleri co-authored the text in the original book and worked together to update the information for the second edition.
The book covers fish species from the area between the Rocky Mountains and Rio Grande in the west and the upper Great Lakes and Mississippi River in the east.
The book will feature 250 of Tomelleri's color illustrations.
Published by University Press of Kansas, the authors are both alumni of the biological sciences department at Fort Hays State University.
Eberle works for the department, and Tomelleri lives in Leawood.
"The book is neither a technical reference nor a fishing book," Eberle said in an email. "It's more of a celebration of fish diversity and their natural history."
Copies of the book will be available at the museum gift shop or people can bring in copies they already have purchased for the authors to sign.
