Margaret Lucille Powers, 94, Grainfield, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014.
She was born Oct. 18, 1920, in rural Park to Nick and Marie Eva (Hartman) Malsom. She graduated from Gove Rural High School.
She married Robert M. Powers on June 6, 1946. He preceded her in death May 5, 1997. They farmed west of Gove for nearly 40 years before retiring to Grainfield in 1983, and she later moved to the GCMC apartments. She served in the Waves during World War II and was honorably discharged.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Hackberry Hoppers and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Lonnie Powers, Maricopa, Ariz., and Eugene Powers and wife, Carol, Paola; a brother, Frank Malsom and wife, Dorothy, Wellington; four grandchildren, Justin Power, Columbia, Mo., Chance Powers and (Bok), Olathe, Kerry Cowart and husband, John, Hoboken, N.J., and Karisa Truekten and husband Floyd, Roswell, N.M.; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan and Katherine Truetken, Roswell.
She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas, on Jan. 31, 1982; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Powers; four sisters, Catherine Clay, Lena Marshall, Theresa Nance and Elizabeth Ann Malsom; and two brothers, Phillip Malsom and Joseph Malsom.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Grainfield; burial in Gove Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley.
