The Thomas More Prep-Marian girls' soccer team advanced the the championship of the Bishop Miege Catholic School Classic friday with a 10-0 win over Kansas City Archbishop O'Hara.
Sophomore Kayla Vitztum opened the scoring with a goal six minutes in. Classmate Ashley Ostrander added a second goal before the half to give the Monarchs a 2-0 advantage at the end of the opening half.
Play was stopped early in the second half due to storms, but when play resumed the Monarch offense poured it on even more.
Kayla Vitztum completed her hat trick in the second half, while Aubrey Koenigsman found the back of the net off an assist from Kelsey DeWitt.
The Celtics suffered an own goal before junior Madyson Koerner finished a second-half brace to bring the mercy rule into play. Senior Bailey Hageman also scored twice in the second half.
The Monarchs are scheduled to play the winner of the other semifinal between Bishop Miege and Sacred Heart on Saturday.
