2 La. insurance companies fail after Ida

BATON ROUGE, La. – Insurance companies operating in Louisiana will be charged at least $100 million to pay claims of two failed property insurers who went belly up in Hurricane Ida’s aftermath. But the cost of dealing with the insolvent insurers ultimately will fall on the state after companies recoup the dollars through a series of tax credits.

For the 50th Christmas, Historic Fort Hays took visitors back in time this weekend. Dressed in period costumes, volunteers sang carols, handed out hot apple cider and fried apples by the campfire, gave out wagon rides, and Father Christmas was even there Friday night, handing out candy with Mrs.
