KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs have been in this position before. Walking across the cold Arrowhead Stadium parking lot, dressing in their revamped locker room, strolling through the narrow tunnel and spilling onto the field for the AFC title game.
The City of Hays is partnering with KSU Smoky Hill River Watersheds Water Conservation and Water Quality for a poster contest, highlighting their theme of “Make Every Drop Count”. The contest is open to City of Hays Students, Pre-Kindergarten through 12th, FHSU students, NCK Tech students and community adults.
ABILENE – Although the Thomas More Prep-Marian boys’ basketball team saw its ninegame winning streak come to an end Friday night, Monarch coach Bill Meagher saw some positives in the 47-43 loss to Abilene, ranked No. 7 in Class 4A.
ABILENE – Junior Jaci VonLintel, a shortstop on the Monarch softball team, showed off her arm in Friday night’s game between Thomas More Prep-Marian and Abilene. VonLintel would get a rebound or steal under the basket and hurl a full-court pass, hitting a Monarch teammate on the fly for an easy layup.
Jordan Dale, after signing a national letter-of-intent on Wednesday at the Hays High cafeteria to compete in track and field at Washburn University, wants to be an Ichabod high jumper who won a state championship.
The TMP Monarchs were able to hold off a late rally from the Sacred Heart Knights in a 67-48 win in Thursday night’s make-up game. TMP started off strong, outscoring the Knights 25-2 in the first quarter of play.
TMP’s Gavin Unrein was able to spark a 13-3 run with a lay-up off the jump ball to start the game. From then on out the Knights fought back, but the Monarchs were able to hold on, winning Thursday night’s contest 53-42.
