ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Fort Hays men’s basketball team held off a late Missouri Western rally to claim a 76-71 MIAA road win on Monday afternoon. The contest was a make-up game from a previously scheduled matchup that was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the Griffon program.
Twila L. O’Brien, age 92 years, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday evening, January 19, 2022 at Azria Health – Great Bend. Twila was born on April 17, 1929 in rural Cheyenne County, Kansas to Walter Albert and Ella Faye (Miller) Baney. She graduated from Benkelman High School Class of 1947 at Benkelman, Nebraska and was united in marriage to Daniel Dennis O’Brien on February 21, 1950 at Benkelman, Nebraska. In addition to being a homemaker, Twila loved education, and was a teacher of Business, Realtor, Appraiser, Legal Secretary, and also was a House Director for Fraternities and Sororities. She also loved to travel. Twila was of the Catholic faith, and longtime member of both St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and St. Patrick Catholic Church at Prince of Peace Parish in Great Bend, Kansas, and was Past President of the St. Rose Altar Society.
