It’s best to monitor liver enzymes when starting this MS med

DEAR DR. ROACH: I am 69 years old and have multiple sclerosis, for which I have been taking Aubagio (teriflunomide) for five months. My monthly liver tests have been negative so far. I am concerned about the long-term effects of this drug on my liver. Can the drug damage the liver permanently over time? Also, what are the symptoms of a damaged liver? What is the liver’s function? White House methane plan funds orphan well cleanup, rewards reduced farm emissions

The federal government will provide $1.15 billion this year to help states cap defunct oil and gas wells, the White House said Monday, as part of a broad plan to reduce methane emissions. The government-wide methane reduction plan comes about two months after President Joe Biden joined a pledge at the United Nations Climate Conference in Scotland to reduce methane emissions by 30 percent by 2030.

R a n d a l “Randy” Ames Olson went to his heavenly home on January 29, 2022 at Medical City Hospital in Arlington, Texas at the age of 68. Randy was born on October 11, 1953 in Atwood, Kansas to Alden “Hank” and Macalene (Barnhart) Olson. Both preceded him in death.

Joyce D. Dechant

Joyce D. Dechant, 65, Hays, died Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Diversicare of Larned. She was born May 8, 1956 in Hays, the daughter of Alfred W. “Fritz” and Dorothy (Honas) Dechant. Joyce was a 1974 graduate of Marian High School and she received an Associate Degree in Data Processing in 1985 and a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies in 2011, both from Fort Hays State University. She was a licensed cosmetologist and worked as an administrative specialist in the Nursing Department at Fort Hays State University for over 23 years. She was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, the pinochle club, enjoyed flower gardening and the outdoors, and was a lifelong learner. Joyce cherished her family and friends and was a devoted daughter, thoughtful sister, caring aunt, and loyal friend. Survivors include her mother:

Proposals regarding bond issue, street maintenance presented at Work Session

The Hays City Commission met Thursday morning for a work session and on the agenda were issues to improve schools, roads and parks. The commission discussed USD 489 Board of Education’s request to consider an election for a special purpose sales tax to be used to reduce the property tax requirement associated with the recent bond project.
