Historic Impact of Public Health

Life expectancy is a measure commonly considered when it comes to the overall health of a population. In this day and age, when most of us think about which medical interventions are most important to increase life expectancy, we probably think about things like treatment of cancer, interventions to treat heart attacks, or surgeries for life threatening illnesses. While those things are all important, their overall impact on a population’s life expectancy pales in comparison to the prevention of infectious disease.

Allaire Homburg

Allaire Thomas Homburg was born on November 7th, 1944 in a rock house a half a mile north of St. John’s Lutheran Church and passed March 16th, 2022 at Sheridan County Medical Center. His father August was the first child born in this rock house and Allaire was the last.

Breaking the glass ceiling

At the 2022 Indoor National Championships, the Tigers secured their fifth consecutive national title in Ryan Stanley’s outstanding pole vault performance. Three additional Tigers, Mattie Rossi, Jacob Clark and Nolan Churchman, earned the prestigious All-American status by placing in the top eight.
