Esther Anna (Wagoner) Littlechild

Esther Anna (Wagoner) Littlechild, age 93, died peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the Ellis Good Samaritan Society. She was born December 22, 1928, on the family farm southwest of Ellis in the Riverside Township of southeast Trego County, to Henry Grant and Rose Elizabeth (Colborg) Wagoner. She attended country school through the eighth grade at Maple Grove School, District 47, in Trego County.

James (Jim) Befort

James ( Jim) Befort was born on April 17, 1946, in Hays, KS to August and Helen (Pfeifer) Befort and died on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the age of 75, in UAB Hospital, Birmingham, AL, as a result of injuries suffered in a vehicle accident.

Jared Wasinger appointed as Manhattan Assistant City Manager

Hays native Jared Wasinger was recently promoted to Manhattan’s Assistant City Manager after six years as a city employee. The new position will allow Wasinger to aid in day-to-day management of City operations including staff supervision and administrative policy development, overseeing the IT division, directing the communications division and working with parking services, special projects and acting as liaison for the City and Riley County law enforcement.
