Recognizing PTSD
Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, was first listed as a medical diagnosis in 1980. However, it has been recognized and called by many different names throughout history. The first recorded description of PTSD is in the Epic of Gilgamesh which dates back to 2100 B.C. In The Iliad and The Odyssey, Homer wrote about Trojan War soldiers exhibiting the symptoms of PTSD. Shakespeare described a character in King Henry IV who suffered from post-traumatic nightmares.

Grant of $5 million allows return of Kaw Nation spiritual rock misappropriated in 1929
TOPEKA — A massive rock of cultural and spiritual significance to the Kaw Nation moved from Tecumseh to Lawrence nearly a century ago to honor the city’s settlers will be relocated to tribal land near Council Grove with a $5 million grant from the Mellon Foundation.
Moran, Marshall laud broadening of Brown v. Board education commemorations
TOPEKA — U.S. Sens. Roger Marshall and Jerry Moran celebrated Monday unanimous adoption by the Senate of legislation commemorating work in all communities that contributed to the landmark 1954 U.S. Supreme Court decision declaring unconstitutional the “separate but equal” educational system.
Paz Diaz and Mendez Win Tiebreaks Again, Tigers Come Up Short of Jets
HAYS, Kan. – Just like a day prior, Fort Hays State fell 5-2 to its opponent and Maria Paz Diaz and Fiorella Mendez won singles matches in tiebreaks. This time the Tigers fell short of Newman in conference action even though they put up a strong fight in singles play trying to battle back from a 1-0 deficit after doubles.
