What’s the prognosis for ‘microvascular disease’?

DEAR DR. ROACH: I am an 80-year-old active male taking only thyroxine. I have no known health issues. In November 2021, I experienced a migraine with aura and have a slight vision loss in my right eye. After seeing an eye doctor, a retinal specialist and a primary care doctor, the only thing I am hearing is the term “microvascular disease.” This is based on the eye doctor’s examination. I am unable to find a satisfactory definition or prognosis anywhere I search. Any information you could provide would be appreciated. -- R.B.

Big 12 commish Bowlsby stepping away from role this year

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby says he is stepping away from that role later this year after a decade on the job. Bowlsby will remain the Big 12’s leader until a new commissioner is appointed. The expectation is that he will then transition into a new interim role with the league. The 70-year-old Bowlsby’s contract with the Big 12 goes into 2025. He has been Big 12 commissioner since 2012. He came to the league after serving as athletic director at Stanford, Iowa and Northern Iowa.

TMP soccer takes 2-1 victory

NICKERSON – The Thomas More Prep-Marian girls’ soccer team took a halftime lead and never relinquished it in Friday’s 2-1 win over Nickerson. TMP (3-2), which won 10-0 at Wichita-Word of Life on Tuesday, had its match on Thursday against Dodge City postponed.

Helen D. Mosser

Helen D. Mosser, 96, of Monticello, died at 6:24 a.m. Monday April 4, 2022, at home surrounded by her daughter and loving cat, Pepper. She was born May 27, 1925, in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of Patrick J. and Bessie Armstrong Deane. Growing up on a cattle ranch, she became a champion horse-woman in the 1930s and 40s. She married John D. Mosser on October 16, 1954, in Decatur, IL. Survivors include two daughters (who both still go by the Mosser last name), Patricia (Miles Cary Leahey) Mosser of New York City, NY and Amy ( James David Vance) Mosser of Evanston, IL; four grandchildren, Rosemary A. Leahey, John Mosser Vance, Andrew Rhen Vance, and Emily Giana Vance. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Patrick Deane, Jr., and Robert A. Deane.
