A pair of Hays High and Thomas More Prep-Marian graduates have been chosen as the recipients of the 2022 Scott Mecham Student of Integrity Award Scholarship. Twelve students were selected throughout BBB’s service area within The Kansas Plains, Omaha/ Southwest Iowa, Lincoln/ Greater Nebraska and South Dakota.

Ellis High School Baseball and Softball Senior Night was held Monday evening. Senior night was rescheduled from last week when games were canceled because of weather. Seniors and their parents were recognized between varsity games with Russell. JV games begin at 3:00 p.m. followed by the varsity games.

EMPORIA, Kan. - Mattie Rossi and Gretchen Kuffel had record breaking performances on Saturday (May 7) at the MIAA Outdoor Championships. Rossi’s new record came in the 400-meter hurdle prelims, while Kuffel topped the 3,000-meter steeplechase field. Abigail Stewart and Taylor Savolt joined Kuffel in generating points for the FHSU women, while the FHSU men saw team points generated by Ryan Stanley, Jacob Clark, Mark Faber, Jack Pakkebier, Robbie Schmidt, Grant Bradley, and Kolgan Ohl.
GARDEN CITY – The Hays High boys’ golf team finished seventh at Saturday’s Garden City Invitational at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course. Hays High shot 377 as a team.
Coach Dustin Dreher said the tough pitching the Hays High baseball team is seeing should help the Indians when they reach postseason. Hays High finished 1-3 at the 39th Western Plains Diamond Classic over the weekend.
