Innovation Festival announces next weekend’s music event is FREE; The Greeting Committee and The Regrettes will headline after Black Pumas cancel

July 29, Kansas City - Innovation Festival, the inaugural music and tech convergence set to debut next weekend at Crown Center, has made the decision to offer free general admission to their music festival on Saturday, August 6th. The announcement follows the news that Black Pumas have canceled a string of festival dates, including their scheduled set at Innovation Festival. Hometown favorites The Greeting Committee will now headline the show, along with The Regrettes, Argonaut & Wasp, and a dozen other bands and DJs. Other activities include a silent disco, a brewery showcase featuring breweries from the region, food trucks, innovation features, and more. Free general admission will make the festival more accessible and allow more guests to experience the power of music, science and innovation.

FHSU Announces 2022 Tiger Gear on Friday Community Partner of the Year

HAYS, Kan – Fort Hays State University presented its inaugural Tiger Gear on Friday Community Partner of the Year award to Sunflower Bank. Tiger Gear on Friday is a celebration of the innovative, determined, and caring people that make Tiger Nation unique. TGOF is a partnership involving several on-campus organizations, businesses, and community organizations in the Hays community.

Christiane Wade Luehrs

Christiane Wade Luehrs, 81, passed away quietly in her sleep at her home on July 14, 2022. She was born September 30, 1940, to Reynolds W. Wade, M.D., and Theodora Pomeranz Wade in Toledo, Ohio, and grew up near the shores of the Great Lakes. She graduated from Valparaiso University, earned a Master’s Degree in History from Washington University in St. Louis, and received a Master’s Degree in English from Fort Hays State University. At Washington University she met Robert Luehrs, a fellow student. It was his good fortune to marry her in 1965. The couple moved to Hays in 1968 so that Robert could pursue a career as a Professor of History at FHSU.

Mary Jane Catlin

Mary Jane Catlin, 94, of Medicine Lodge, KS, died Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 3, 1928 in Elm Mills Township, Barber County, KS, the daughter of Chris Frederick Haas and Katie Elizabeth (McBeth) Haas.

Judy Ann Weigel

Hutchinson- Judy Ann Weigel, 80, died July 26, 2022, at The Arbors at Waldron Place, Hutchinson. Parish Rosary was 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson. Harold Verle Larson

Hoisington- Harold Verle Larson, 87, died July 19, 2022, at Country Place Senior Living in Hoisington, Kansas. He was born November 15, 1934, in Humboldt, Kansas, to Hugo and Florence (Stark) Larson. Harold was the youngest of five children. He lived on a farm outside of Humboldt and then Chanute. He graduated from Vilas High School.
