HaysMed DeBakey Heart Institute Offers Minimally Invasive TAVR Heart Valve Replacement
Patients who suffer from severe aortic stenosis, which is the narrowing of the heart’s aortic valve opening that restricts blood flow, now have a new option available at HaysMed. Dr. Niranjan Seshadri, Interventional Cardiologist, is performing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).

Annual Tiger Auction raises money for athletics
The 13th Annual Tiger Auction commenced Saturday afternoon at 4, raising money for Tiger Athletics with items including gift cards, custom made Fort Hays gear and apparel, camp and training passes, as well as Item #40.
Doggy play day concludes Hays Aquatic Park 2022 summer season
Hays Aquatic Park closed its doors August 14, but held one last event over the weekend. Saturday afternoon, doors were opened to furry friends, complete with paw painting, treat stations and lots of swimming.

DEAR DR. ROACH: My brother has low blood platelets and anemia. He will be 73 this year and has had three back surgeries. What causes low blood platelets? Can anything be done to raise platelet count? He drinks alcohol everyday -- not hard liquor, but canned alcoholic mixed drinks. He is in constant pain from his back. Also, he has osteoporosis. We have told him to stop drinking, but he won’t or can’t. What, if anything, can be done for him?
