October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month!
Purple Light Nights October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Options Domestic & Sexual Violence Services is bringing awareness to our communities through several awareness and educational events. We invite community members to take action, prevent domestic violence, and support survivors. Options is excited to be hosting three tree lighting ceremonies this year to kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month. These tree lightings will be held across Options’ 18-county service area: · Monday, October 3rd in Hill City at East City Park at 7 pm · Tuesday, October 4th in Hays at Union Pacific Park at 7 pm · Wednesday, October 5th in Colby at Fike Park at 7 pm Options invites the community to show their support for survivors at these ceremonies.

Physician revokes driver’s license without an explanation
DEAR DR. ROACH: My wife’s handicap parking placard expired, and she asked her primary care physician to fill out a renewal application. The new placard was received, followed by a letter from the DMV instructing my wife to return her license within 10 days because a medical professional had deemed it unsafe for her to drive. There was no discussion with my wife about driving.

Most of Barton County is listed as moderate drought with the exception of the very northwest corner as severe.

TMP starts season 2-0 for first time in ten years with victory over Railers

Editors note: This story was submitted by TMP-M staff as a way to incorporate more student voices in the Hays Daily News At the half-time show during TMPM’s very first home football game, the schools’ cheerleaders stepped onto the 50-yard line hand-in-hand with the future cheerleaders of the school. Every year during the football and basketball seasons, the school’s cheerleaders host a miniature cheer camp for any little girls in the area who hope to take to the sidelines themselves one day.

The Fort Hays State University football team dropped its home opener last week, falling to 0-2 to start the season for the third straight year. The Tigers lost 3519 to Missouri Western in MIAA action on Thursday night at Lewis Field Stadium.
Tigers rally for 2-2 draw
Fort Hays State made a late rally to turn an 2-0 deficit into a 2-2 tie with Texas A&M-International on Saturday (Sept. 10). First goals of the season by Jackson Elgas and Tyler Lockhart helped the Tigers move to 2-2-2 overall on the season, while the Dustdevils moved to 1-3-1 on the season.
