Fueled by a fast start, the Hays High football team rolled past Great Bend 33-7 in a matchup of WAC rivals Friday night. The HHS defense forced a punt on Great Bend’s first series, and on the Indians’ second play from scrimmage running back Malik Bah dashed 48 yards into the end zone for a 7-0 lead.

This Saturday will commemorate the 12th Annual Free Spirit 5K/10K Run, honoring the memory of Jordyn Claiborn who was killed in a car accident on September 11, 2009. Claiborn, often called “Jordy” by friends and family was a Hays High School student at the time of her passing.
Nearly $19,000 was raised at this year’s Kansas Biggest Rodeo for area residents undergoing cancer treatment. During the rodeo’s annual Tough Enough to Wear Pink night, $18,826.70 was donated to the Hope in the Heartland fund.
