‘The G Word’—we can’t afford NOT to talk about it

Today, as I write this article (a full day after it was due— sorry editors!), it is National Voter Registration Day. I am wearing a T-shirt quoting a popular former Supreme Court justice. I attended a fundraising event for a political candidate, and I monitored Facebook activity for an Ellis County political party for which I am secretary. To say that government and politics have an important role in my daily life might be an understatement—but I guarantee they do for you too.

Space Week at FHSU

Fort Hays State University will be hosting Space Week, starting on Monday, October 10 through Saturday, October 15. Monday, guests can participate in 3D printing of NASA artifacts, free to the public.

Tigers fumble away chance for victory

Fort Hays State fell to Missouri Southern by a score of 25-24 on Saturday evening(Sept. 24) at Lewis Field Stadium in Hays. The Lions snapped an eightgame losing skid to the Tigers, using a drive that went the length of the field late to take a one-point lead. Fumbles on a pair of fourth-quarter scoring opportunities doomed the Tigers as they saw the Lions squeak past late. FHSU is now 1-3 overall, while MSSU is 3-1.

HHS tennis ties for third

The Hays High girls’ tennis team, paced by the runner-up finish by doubles team Danica Scheve and Kayler Wellbrock, tied for third at Saturday’s Garden City Invitational. Scheve and Wellbrock went 3-1 on the day for the Indians, who finished third with Colby. Garden City White won, with Dodge City, second.
