Left anterior fascicular block diagnosis causes alarm

DEAR DR. ROACH: I am a 66-year-old woman who recently had an ECG prior to my knee surgery. The interpretation I received stated that I had an abnormal ECG with a “left anterior fascicular block.” Needless to say, this alarmed me. I saw a nurse practitioner who stated: “Don’t be concerned by the language; your doctor viewed the ECG and said it was fine.” Your thoughts, please? -- M.M.

New faces, same enthusiasm at TMP-M Junior High

One thing I love about Junior High is the energy and enthusiasm students bring to the hallways and classrooms everyday. Junior High marks the next stage in their lives where they are gaining more independence and trying new activities. They want to be viewed as more adult-like, but still crave adult support and attention. They are learning what interests them and they are genuinely excited to try all the new opportunities we have to offer.

Grocery Store

Have you ever run into the grocery store for just one or two items then realized that your arms were overflowing? Life can be like that and especially for our youth! It is easy over-schedule or underestimate the time needed to accomplish tasks and, suddenly, our day or week have been become overwhelming! It is important to think about our options. Just like making the decision to grab a cart when our groceries are more than we planned, where do we need help? Do we need to put some things back, both at the grocery store or in life? Are there some things that we realize we don’t need at all? 4-H is about experiential learning and sometimes that learning includes how to balance.

Road closure this weekend

The Ellis County Public Works Road & Bridge Division is announcing that the 100 block of Saline River Road, between 100 and 110th Avenue will be closed on Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day.
