Monday the Kiwanis Club of Hays began their annual Poinsettia Fundraiser, which will continue through November 30. Orders can be placed for traditional red, white, or red glitter poinsettias for $27 or $30 arrangements.

Dear Readers, Every boy dropped his crayon and leapt out of his seat when I popped the question, “What are you going to be for Halloween?” I could not help but chuckle as a five and six year old gaggle broke loose. They reminded me of baby birds trying to fly as they hopped and bobbed in place. And the more I laughed, the louder they cried.
After failing to score in the first half, the Hays High boys’ soccer team had a big second half to win 3-1 in Thursday’s non-conference match against Wichita-Bishop Carroll at the HHS field. Bishop Carroll got an early goal, scoring in the fourth minute, and made it stand for a 1-0 halftime lead.
