Watershed specialists help protect Kansas water

For farmers and ranchers in Kansas, drought concerns are always looming, so community conversations about conservation and water use are ongoing and vital. Concerns are ever present about ponds dwindling to muddy puddles, and recently irrigators learned that the Ogallala Aquifer – a main water source for the state – declined last year by an astounding two feet in parts of Kansas.

FHSU Students let their voice be heard in annual graphic design competition

This week, the winners for the 15th Annual “Let Your Voice Be Heard!” Poster Competition were announced, with first place awarded to Paige Polifka-Denson. Denson’s mother Terri Polifka was the recipient of the same award when she was a Fort Hays State Student in 2008. Both Denson and Polifka were students of Karrie Simpson-Voth, the Art and Design Department Chair Professor.

No. 3 Women’s Basketball Opens Regular Season in KC

The third-ranked Fort Hays State women’s basketball team and seven other top programs from across the country will get an early start to the 2022-23 season with this weekend’s D2CCA Tip-Off Classic in Kansas City, Mo. The Tigers will start the year against sixth-ranked West Texas A&M Saturday (Nov. 5) before facing off with Southern Nazarene on Sunday (Nov. 6), with both games beginning at 1:30 p.m. inside historic Municipal Auditorium in downtown KC.

Men’s Soccer Falls to Hillcats in Semifinals

Fort Hays State fell to No. 17 ranked Rogers State 2-1 in the GAC/MIAA Tournament semifinals on Thursday (Nov. 3). Down a goal at the half, the Tigers tied the match in the 56th minute only to see the Hillcats score another go-ahead goal about three minutes later. The Tigers moved to 8-5-6, while the Hillcats improved to 10-3-6 and moved on the GAC/MIAA Tournament championship on Sunday (Nov. 6).
