More than 1000 graduates move their tassels in FHSU fall commencement

Fort Hays State University recognized roughly 1,014 graduates in ceremonies at Gross Memorial Coliseum over the past two days. The sixth annual commencement began Friday morning at 8:30, honoring undergraduate and master's candidates in the Robbins College of Business and Entrepreneurship, the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, and the Werth College of Science, Technology and Mathematics.

Hays groups join forces to support childcare providers

There’s still work to do, but an ambitious group of citizens and city officials in Hays have taken an innovative approach to addressing childcare challenges in their region. Sarah Wasinger, president and Chief Executive Officer with The Chamber in Hays Kansas, says the Ellis County Child Care Task Force – formed in 2021 – has been a driving force in providing affordable, quality childcare in northwest Kansas.

ECES awarded $10,141 HHW grant

Ellis County Environmental Services Director Justin Craig announced at the Dec. 2, 2024, Ellis County Commission meeting that the Environmental Services Department (ECES) has been awarded a 60/40 $10,141 Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Division of Environment Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) grant to purchase a new HHW trailer and a new aerosol can crusher.
