District Manager updates Commissioners on conservation efforts

Ellis County Conservation District Manager Linda O’Neal’s updated County Commissioners on January 7, 2025, including a summary of cost-share fund projects in the County for fiscal years 2024 through 2025 and District activity for the same time frame and projects planned for fiscal year 2025. District Manager O’Neal was accompanied by Travis Groff (Ellis County Conservation District Board,) Allen Roth (Ellis County Conservation District Supervisor,) Steven Walter (National Resources Conservation Service [NRCS] Ellis County Conservation District Conservationist) and Mackenzie Kane (Ellis County Conservation District Technician.) According to District Manager O’Neal, as the local source for cost share funding for the installation of best management practices for preserving and improving water quality and soil health, the Ellis County Conservation District administers multiple assistance programs which provide economic and environmental benefits directly in the County which benefit all residents.

Monarchs host Ellis after month long break

Recent winter weather caused a delay back to the court for the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs, scheduled to open 2025 against Salina Sacred Heart last week. Now, nearly a month since their last outing (12/20 @ Central Plains), TMP will look for a fresh start on their home turf as they host the Ellis Railers this Thursday, the girls game beginning at 6.
