Catfish and otters and ducks, OH MY!

I promise I will not talk about my ducks and chickens, whose exploits and malfunctions I have burdened you with in many a column, except to say that my biggest disappointment with these critters is that my daffy ducks simply will not go into my pond, which is why I got them in the first place. But guess what? Geese will! Every year just after Christmas about 50 or 60 Canada Geese decide to winter (or summer) on my one acre pond.

Monarchs roll to 6-0

The Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs have stunned their last three opponents, most recently the Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs, putting up more than 12 runs in all but one contest this season.

Commissioners' Annual County Roads Tour Apr 30

At the Ellis County Commission April 1 meeting, Chair Michael Berges, Vice Chair Neal Younger and Commissioner Nathan Leiker discussed their upcoming annual county road tour with County Administrator Darin Myers and Public Works (PW) Director Brendan Mackay. Each year, a special Ellis County Commission meeting is scheduled to have public works staff take the commissioners around Ellis County to look at different road and bridge projects that have either just been completed, are being worked on, are on the capital project list, or are newly identified by staff and the commission to go visit and discuss options.
