Delays possible this week with KDOT Old Hwy 40 Bridge Repair Project

Both the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and the Ellis County Public Works Department issued announcements that motorists may possibly experience “minor delays, not exceeding 15 minutes this week, as on Monday July 21st, KDOT begins a bridge repair project in Ellis County along I-70. Crews will be making repairs to the undersides of the bridges carrying both eastbound and westbound I-70 over Old Highway 40 near Walker in Ellis County.

EAS funding safe, for now

Hays City Manager Toby Dougherty confirmed at the July 10, 2025, City Commission Meeting that that President Trump’s proposed budget cuts to the Essential Air Services (EAS) program had been removed before final passage. Commissioner Shaun Musil stated that legislators and senators should be thanked for fighting for the EAS.
