Olmstead, Watts, Sproul Sweep Ellis County Fair Races

The Ellis County Fair hosted two thrilling nights of IMCA racing action in Hays this weekend, with the duo of Chris Lohrey and Taron Burkhart winning the cruisers feature Friday night, Connor Schwien the sport compact feature, Zach Olmstead the hobby stock feature, Tyler Watts the sport mod feature, Johny Yutterman the stock car feature and Dakota Sproul the modified feature event. Saturday night the action picked right back up, and the fans were treated to another exciting night of IMCA racing, as the racetrack featured multiple grooves, and a fast surface.

Heartland Community Foundation Welcomes New Board Members, Honors Outgoing Leaders, and Launches Engagement Committees

The Heartland Community Foundation is proud to announce the addition of four new members to its Advisory Board, recognize recent leadership transitions, and introduce a new County Engagement Committee structure designed to welcome more diverse voices to the table. Heartland’s Advisory Board plays a vital role in guiding the Foundation’s mission to improve quality of life across Ellis, Rooks, and Trego counties.

Want to have input on the Ellis County 2026 Budget, Revenue Neutral Rate (RNR) and possible $9.75M bond funding for four future capital improvement projects? Then you’ll want to attend Tuesday’s 8:30 a.m., July 15, 2025 Ellis County Commission Meeting. According to the July 15, 2025 County Commission Meeting Agenda, the 2nd Draft of the 2026 Budget will be presented, prior to the County Commissioners meeting with all Department Heads and Elected Officials on July 21, 2025 to go over individual budgets.
