Hays needs to become a "fire wise" city, says Barrick

City Commissioner Reese Barrick used his allotted Comment time on August 14, 2025, to bring attention to the City’s fire risks. He lauded the Hays Fire Department (HFD) recent two-day Wildland Resilience Summit and attributed his decision to push for Hays to become a “fire wise” City to the event which included discussions with representatives from the State Forest Service, State Fire Services, National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the HFD.

FHSU Athletics Partners with INFLCR by Teamworks NIL Program

Fort Hays State University Athletics has announced its partnership with Influencer (INFLCR) by Teamworks to help expand and optimize its Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) program and opportunities for its student-athletes. The Tigers are launching their Fort Hays State Tiger Exchange program, which is a custom-designed NIL business registry for businesses, donors, alumni, and others interested in connecting with FHSU student-athletes.
