October came today (Or, don't I wish….)

Dear Readers, With great pleasure and the permission of the author (a dear friend of mine,) here is a favorite poem for a favorite month: OCTOBER CAME TODAY By D.S. Oct 7th County Commission Mtg – Minimal insurance increases for county employees next year

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025 the Ellis County Commissioners are expected to approval 2026 insurance renewals resulting in minimal increases for employees for monthly premiums. The County had budgeted for an 7% overall increase in 2026 renewal rates for the health, dental and vision programs for Ellis County employees; however, rates increased only an overall 3.6% from 2025 premiums, according to Cover Sheet attachment for the Oct.

At last week’s City Commission Meeting, Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) Executive Director Melissa Dixon presented highlights of upcoming October community events, including The Chamber’s Fall Election Forum at 6 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2025 at the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center.
