Lois Charlene (Karst) Herrman, 64, formerly of Hays, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 28, 1949, in Russell to Albert E. and Doris A. (Ochs) Karst. She was a 1967 graduate of Plainville High School. She received her nurse's aide and licensed practical nurse degrees from Colby Community College, and her registered nurse degree from Barton County Community College.

She married Patrick "Pat" Herrman on May 11, 1974, in Hays. She was a registered nurse and retired as director of a rehab unit in Fort Mohave, Ariz.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Hays.

She enjoyed reading, ceramics, shopping, crocheting, making photo albums, cooking and sewing. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson and was an excellent caregiver for her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Nicholas Herrman, Laughlin, Nev.; a daughter, Kaylene Herrman and husband, John Christian, Sturgis, S.D.; three brothers, Tom Karst and wife, Mary, Hays, Doug Karst, Andover, and Mark Karst and wife, Shannon, Victoria; three sisters, Dianne Schmidt and husband, Gene, Maryln Schumacher and husband, Larry, and Patty Karst, all of Great Bend; a grandson, Perry Herrman; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Steven Karst; and a sister, Lanita Smith.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Messiah Lutheran Church, Hays; burial in Mount Allen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS 67601, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.

A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
