HOISINGTON — The Thomas More Prep-Marian baseball team’s season came to a close Thursday at the hands of Russell/Victoria in the Class 4A Division II regional semifinals.

Russel/Victoria, behind a complete-game, three-hit shutout for Brandon Ridgley, beat the Monarchs, 2-0, scoring runs in the sixth and seventh innings to move on to Thursday’s regional title game.

The Monarchs ended their season at 16-5.

Kameron Schmidt pitched a complete-game three-hitter for TMP as both Russell runs were unearned.

Ridgley gave up three hits with five strikeouts to one walk, throwing 93 pitches. Schmidt threw 105 pitches, giving up three hits with six strikeouts and four walks.

Russell’s three hits came from Brady Dinkel, Chase Prester and Taylor Rome. TMP got hits from Braiden Werth, Chase Romme and Ricky Hockett.

Russell/Victoria was set to play the winner of Thursday’s second game between Larned and host Hoisington/Central Plains.
