Take mouth-watering homemade goodies, throw in a dynamic speaker and a good meal, and mix with lots of fun and laughter -- and what do you get?
The annual Fall Country Fair and Auction, sponsored by the Hays After 5 Christian women's organization.
The fair will begin at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at The Bakery Shop, 230 E. Eighth. Speaker Marilyn Douglas of Concordia will talk about the "Hats Women Wear," recounting her humorous adventures as wife, mother of three adopted children and former teacher. Douglas also serves as a marriage retreat hostess.
Women are invited to bring items to the restaurant between 4 and 6 p.m. the day of the auction. Suggested items include canned or baked goods, craft items, decorations and fruits and veggies from the garden.
Auctioneer Roger Kisner with Purple Wave Auction is donating his services. Part of the proceeds will go to the missions project, which Hays After 5 supports through Stonecroft Ministries of Kansas City, Mo..
