Garden City Co-op, Inc., was founded in 1919. Its member/owners number 2,052.

The Grain Division counts 20 elevators covering an area from Ulysses in the south to Shields in the north. It is capable of storing 25,937,000 bushels in the elevators and 2,348,000 bushels in bunkers at Lowe for a total storage capacity of 28,285,000 bushels. The Crop Production Division, with locations at Lowe and Dighton, serves farmers in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas and handles distribution of fertilizer and chemicals through state of the art application equipment. The Petroleum Division is the largest distributor of Cenex refined fuels and is one of the largest distributors of Cenex lubricants in the United States. These divisions are served through Western Transport, Garden City Co-opís Transportation Division.

Because of the volatility in all the grain markets, Garden City Co-op buys grain only when the markets are open and trading, 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Contracting new crop grains requires 5,000 bushel increments. All prices quoted are per bushel. Prices are updated on a 10-minute delay with the futures.

Garden City Co-op has about 150 employees. Scott Co-op was established in 1957. Jason Baker is manager. The co-op has facilities in Marienthal, Shallow Water, Grigston, Manning, Modoc, Selkirk and Pence.

Sublette Cooperative, Inc.

The Sublette Cooperative was founded in 1929 by 86 charter members of Haskell County as Cooperative Grain Dealers Union. The name was changed to Sublette Cooperative Inc in 1973. The cooperative was formed to aid members in their agricultural endeavors. The cooperative has grown to sales of more than $40 million, providing members grain storage and marketing, crop production services and products, and Cenex petroleum products.

United Prairie Ag (UPA), headquartered in Ulysses, is a joint venture between Cropland Co-op Inc. and ADM Grain Division. It was formed in January 2006. The chief executive officer is Bob Ward.

UPA is a full-service agriculture partner, offering grain operations, agronomy products and services, refined fuels and marketing expertise. It operates elevators in nine communities with a total of 25 million bushels of storage capacity. UPA is also the managing partner for Santa Fe Grain Terminal, a joint venture with Skyland Grain and ADM.

UPAís Agronomy Division offers sales and service of dry, liquid and ammonia fertilizers, seed, and crop protection products. Delivery and custom application of chemicals and fertilizers are available from four agronomy centers, strategically located throughout a more than 4,000-square-mile trade area.
