Assistant Ellis County Attorney Christopher Lyon has announced he is running for the county attorney position in Trego County.

The Republican has served as an assistant attorney in Ellis County since 2014.

Prior to that, Lyon earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Dallas. In 2006, he joined the U.S. Army and served two tours of duty in Iraq.

After returning from military duty, Lyon attended Washburn University in Topeka. While in school, he worked at the Washburn Law Clinic and the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office — all while graduating law school in two years.

The current Trego County Attorney is Tony Potter.
