GREELEY, Colo. — For the second time in as many weeks, Jon Inman and Christian Lance won individual championships for the Fort Hays State University wrestling team Sunday at the Northern Colorado Open.
Inman, the No. 4 ranked wrestler at 197 pounds, followed a first-round bye with four consecutive decisions to win. After beating wrestlers from New Mexico Highlands and Wyoming, Inman posted a 9-7 win over Colorado Mesa’s Austin Gaun. He beat Northern Colorado’s Jacob Seely 5-2 in the championship.
Lance topped a Wyoming wrestler in the first round before a first-period pin saw him go on to the quarterfinals. There, he beat Northern Colorado’s Jack Kuck via 3-2 decision before advancing to the championship with a 7-4 decision over Sam Eagan, another Wyoming wrestler.
In the championship, Lance topped Northwest Kansas Tech’s Odgerek Batkhishig in a 6-5 decision.
Junior Rakim Dean was the only other Tiger placer, finishing in third place at 184 pounds. Dean was 5-1 on the day and lost a 10-3 decision to a Northern Colorado wrestler.
