O'Loughlin Elementary School has been participating in Jump Rope for Heart since the 1991-92 school year.

The students no longer go door-to-door, but ask family and friends for donations.

Through 2013, students at the school have raised $71,650.

"We want to raise money for the American Heart Association," said Mark Watts, O'Loughlin physical education teacher and coordinator of the event. "Heart disease is the No. 1 killer. That's what drives us."
