Verna Viola (Voos) Mohr, 96, Phoenix, formerly of Russell, died Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Christian Care Nursing Center in Phoenix.

She was born May 12, 1920, in Bazine to Jacob L. and Elizabeth (Herman) Voos. She was a 1939 graduate of Victoria High School.

She married Joseph C. Mohr on Jan. 2, 1943, in Russell. She was a secretary for Simpson Elementary School and the doctorsí office of White, Pettijohn and Schulz, all in Russell.

Survivors include a son, Steven D. Mohr, Phoenix; two daughters, Sharron K. Bond, Fort Mill, S.C., and Beth Smith, Phoenix; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell; burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with family present to greet guests from 6 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church in care of the mortuary.
