Althea Glorine Tucker, 99, Salina, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at Salina Regional Health Center.

She was born Aug. 5, 1914, in Palco to Carrie Edna (Holmes) and Elijah M. Tucker. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Fort Hays State University and a master of arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado.

She was a retired school teacher. She began teaching in Salina in 1945 and taught at Phillips School and Grace E. Stewart Elementary.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Circle, MU Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Round Table of General Federation of Women's Club, Association of American University Women, YWCA and a life member of Kansas Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her nieces, Kay Thomas and husband, Glenn, Denver, Nadine Prouty, St. Paul, Minn., Lynne Quintana and husband, Eduardo, Tucson, Ariz., Beth Gardner and husband, Terry, Medford, Ore., and Diana Prouty, Kansas City, Mo.; and a nephew, Ronald Tucker and wife, Peggy, Shorewood, Ill.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Clyde Tucker and Cecil Albert Tucker; six sisters, Thelma Tucker, Marjorie Louise Tucker, Veva Tucker, Dorothy Fanetta Tucker, Evelyn Tucker and Pauline Crystal Tucker; and two nephews, Dennis Prouty and Richard Tucker.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Salina; burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Pleasant View Cemetery, Palco.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
