TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The 14th-ranked Fort Hays State University men’s soccer team got two goals from Maurizio Costa, and that was all the Tigers needed to blank Truman State (Mo.) University on Sunday, 2-0.

The win improves the Tigers to 2-0-0 early in the year. Costa gave FHSU the early 1-0 lead after a shot by Austin Clifton bounced off the Truman goalkeeper, but Costa was there for the finish, giving Clifton the assist. That came in the eighth minute.

Then, in the 55th, Costa found the net again. Mauricio Castorino found Costa at the top of the box for the match’s second goal.

Michael Yantz had two saves to move to 2-0. Truman had nine shots on goal. FHSU fired 14. The Tigers are on the road Friday and Sunday in Colorado taking on University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Friday, then at Colorado State University-Pueblo on Sunday.
