GOODLAND ó Not only did the Thomas More Prep-Marian girlsí golf team win the Goodland Invitational on Tuesday, the Monarchs set a school record in the process.
The Monarchs team total of 364 is a new program low and gave the team its second team championship in as many meets this fall. The previous program record was set a year ago in Larned when the Monarchs totaled 372.
Junior Karee Dinkel led the Monarchs with a second-place finish after losing a playoff to Stanton Countyís Rylie Cook. Both golfers shot an 83 in the tournament.
Shannen Chin placed third, turning in an 85, and Alison Helget finished in sixth after shooting 92.
Gracie Wasinger completed TMPís record team score with a 104.
Halle Lang and Avin Inlow also participated but finished outside the teamís top four.
The Monarchs are slated to return to competition Sept. 15 at Larned.
