Marilyn Jeanette (Lumpkins) Gibson, 77, Arvada, Colo., died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at Wheat Ridge, Colo.

She was born Dec. 12, 1936, northeast of Plainville to Marion and Nevella (Benedick) Lumpkins.

She married Charles Upton on Nov. 29, 1952, in Stockton. She later married James Gibson on April 15, 1960, in Golden, Colo. She worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell in Plainville, transferring to Mountain Bell in Denver in 1960. She worked as the travel coordinator for Rocky Mountain Energy, a division of Union Pacific, from 1971 until they closed in 1987. At that time, she returned to the phone company, working in Denver and Pueblo, Colo., until her retirement in 1998. She had since resided in Arvada.

Survivors include three daughters, Diane Rasmussen, Lehi, Utah, Donna Dyer and husband, Jim, Arvada, and Susan Adams and husband, Dave, Kanorado; a son, James Gibson and wife, Cheryl, Brighton, Colo.; a brother, Bill Lumpkins, Plainville; a sister, Faye Taylor, Great Bend; a brother-in-law, Verle Clark, Rose Hill; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carolyn Clark; and a granddaughter, Bobbi Jo Blazon.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Plainville; burial in Plainville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, and from 1:30 p.m. until time of service Friday at the church.
