The Fort Hays State University women's soccer team defeated Northeastern State University, 1-0, on Friday at the FHSU Soccer Stadium.

In a physical contest, Kelsey Steffens broke the scoreless tie with her fourth goal of the season on a long cross from Gabrielle Makatura. Steffens scored form 20 yards out.

Steffens' goal ties her for the team high this season.

FHSU moved to 6-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 in MIAA play. Northeastern State dropped to 6-5-0, 4-3-0.

Kristen Thompson picked up her sixth shutout with three saves.

The Tigers are at home today at noon against University of Central Oklahoma.
