JoAnn Schmidtberger, 70, Salina, died Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Salina Regional Health Center.

She was born June 17, 1945, in Hays to Peter C. and Barbara R. (Kisner) Waldschmidt.

She married Verlin J. Schmidtberger on May 22, 1965, in Hays. She was a homemaker and lived in Hays for 35 years until moving to Salina in 2000. She was the supervisor at Ellis County Tag Department, worked as a bookkeeper for State Glass Company and Hays Piano and Organ. While living in Salina, she worked in the kitchen at St. Mary’s Grade School.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; three daughters, Yvonne DeWitt and husband, Will, Minneapolis, Victoria Griffitt and husband, Scott, Derby, Jennifer Farrington and Terri Farrington, Hays; two brothers, Donald Waldschmidt and wife, Dianne, Hays, Gregory Waldschmidt and Thomas Turcotte, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; two sisters, Virginia Kasper and husband, Jim, Olathe, and Barbara Sanborn and husband Les, Hutchinson; four grandchildren, Kirstin Hoffman and husband, Jeremy, Kregg Howell, Benjamin Griffitt and Samuel Griffitt.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; inurnment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
