Melvin Joseph Scheck, 85, Russell, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at his home.
He was born Feb. 8, 1930, in Victoria to Joseph and Magdalena (Windholz) Scheck. He was a 1949 graduate of Victoria High School.
He married Maxine Wyant on Aug. 20, 1955, in Gorham. He worked for Kansas Power and Light Co. for over 32 years, prior to retiring in 1992. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, of the home; two sons, Kenny Scheck and Chris Scheck, both of Russell; two brothers, Ed Scheck, Russell, and Linus Scheck, Maxville; three sisters, Lena Meder and Katie Scheck, both of Victoria, and Bina Dinkel, Oakley; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Anthony Scheck.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Russell; burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Russell.
Visitation will be until 5 p.m. Friday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
A vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Building Fund in care of the mortuary.
