Jerry and Patti Peterson

Jerry and Patti Peterson will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary from 4 to 7 p.m. June 20 at 3610 N.W. Bluejacket, Lee's Summit, Mo. The couple requests no gifts. Attire is casual, and there will be live music.

He is a 1964 graduate of Hays High School and a 1969 graduate of Fort Hays State University. He completed his master's degree in elementary education in 1974. As a teacher and later a principal, he worked in Kansas communities such as Lorraine, Maxville, Hoxie, Westmoreland, Wellsville, McPherson, Garden Plain, and Greeley/Garnett. He also spent several years as a textbook sales representative. He was an active member of KAESP and NAESP, serving as a board member and serving currently as the "Retired Rep." Today, he is semi-retired and enjoys spending time with his son setting up and coordinating "Stage 7" every September at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield. He often can be seen working as a real bearded Santa -- or other characters such as a leprechaun or the Easter Bunny for Bass Pro Shops, community events and private parties. She is a 1968 graduate of Partridge High School, Partridge, and a 1991 graduate of McPherson College, with a master's degree in community counseling from Emporia State University in 1993. Before becoming a licensed professional counselor, she worked in Westmoreland, Lawrence, Gardner, McPherson and various other locations in western Kansas. She has worked in the counseling field in both private practice and in hospital networks in the Kansas City metro area and also in Anderson County. She works at a practice in Lee's Summit, Mo. ( She is the daughter of the late Harold and Roberta Koestel, formerly of Partridge/South Hutchinson.
