Special to The Hays Daily News
Get ready to "Dive" into your relationship with God during Celebration Community Church's sixth annual CrossCurrent Youth Conference on June 26 to 27 in Hays.
The goal of the youth conference is to give students relevant multimedia-driven teaching, to ignite youth ministries no matter what size and to encourage teens to grow into mature Christians.
It is a non-denominational Christian youth conference that reaches across denominational lines and stresses a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
The theme for this year's event is "Dive." Students are bombarded in today's culture with false ideas about relationships and truth. At "Dive," students will be encouraged to:
* Dive into an authentic relationship with God and other Christians.
* Dive into God's word and prayer, and share their faith.
The concepts will be shared in five sessions throughout the weekend. The teaching will be biblical and relevant to both students and youth leaders. Sessions will be high-energy and engaging.
The event is open to all incoming middle and high school students and their youth leaders.
The charge is $30 per registration (youth and leaders) for the weekend for those who sign up before the early-bird deadline that ends today. After today, the registration fee is $40.
The registration fee includes the conference, fun night, dodgeball tournament, lunch Saturday, the Remedy Drive concert Saturday night and free lodging and breakfast.
Remedy Drive is a national recording group with such hits as "Daylight" and "Belong With You." More information on the group can be found at www.remedydrive.com. Opening for Remedy Drive on Saturday night will be Cloverton, a band from Manhattan. For more information on the group, visit www.myspace.com/cloverton.
All proceeds from registration and concessions go directly to missions.
Those attending the conference also have the opportunity to stay with a host family to help offset costs. Host families give groups a place to drop some air beds and feed them breakfast in the morning. Host families are available for both Friday and Saturday nights.
Celebration Community Church's new 15,000-square-foot youth and children's wing allows for the entire conference to be at the church.
