Raymond H. Nech, 96, Salina, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at his home.
He was born Feb. 10, 1918, north of Zurich to Wendell (Nec) and Emma (Hrabe) Nech. He was a 1936 graduate of Plainville High School. He was the grandson of Joseph (Nec) and Catherine Pulec Nech.
He married Lucy Winters on Aug. 26, 1942, in Plainville. She preceded him in death. He was a salesman for Armour and Co. until retirement. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during World War II in China, Burma and India.
He was a member of the Salina VFW.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Nech and wife, Cindy, Haven; a daughter, Janice Underwood, Salina; three grandchildren, Necia Bogue and husband, Benjy, Lawrence, Amanda Nech, Gijon, Spain, and Corey Nech, Haven; and two great-grandchildren, Asher and Lily Bogue, Lawrence.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Jim Underwood; and two sisters, Ella Novotny and Anna Gilson.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Plainville; burial in Plainville Cemetery, with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard and Veterans of Foreign Wars Reeder-Dinkel-Westhusin Post No. 8871.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, Plainville.
