FHSU men's soccer sees season end

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- The No. 23-ranked Fort Hays State University men's soccer team had its season come to an end on Sunday in a 3-2 loss to No. 5 Quincy University in the NCAA tournament quarterfinals, played in Tahlequah, Okla.
The Tigers held a 2-0 halftime lead, Michael Cole scoring first for FHSU 20 minutes in, and then barely a minute later Austin Clifton added a second on an assist by Cole.
Less than 10 minutes into the second half, Quincy (21-1-2) got on the board on a goal by Ethan Venvertioh and nine minutes later a goal by Jordan Roberts on a header tied the match at 2-2.
Quincy scored the winning goal in the 83rd minute by Xhovani Dokaj to put and end to the Tigers' season.
FHSU finished the year 11-6-4 after advancing farther into the national tournament than any previous team in school history. The senior class, which is the first full four-year class in program history, finished their careers with a 45-22-11 record.
